Reflections I learned that fur industry started to grow because famous designers made fur a popular trend in fashion. I also found new that they are actual farms keeping captive animals to kill them in a cruel ways to get their fur. At first I changed from animal cruelty to fur trade because animal cruelty was not that specific. Animal Cruelty involves fur trade, house slaughter, puppy mills, and zoo entertainment. I hope to find out where do they sell fur in the black market and how much does it cost. Our collaboration is going really well. The things that are going well are getting things done in time and well. The thing that is going wrong is to meet up with Ms. Park. My first article summary is from National Geographic. The ways human raise animals in cages or hunt them down for their fur. They keep them in small cages without swimming, climbing, running or playing. This is from the Humane society. How they treat the animals like if they had no emotions. It talks about the different types of animals they use to make the fur accessories or the fur coats. This is from vogue. They kill animals he didn’t choose to die just for people to use their fur for their own good. This compares how people capture and kill animals similar to human trafficking happening around the world. From Lowson International Studious. They torture the animals then kill them in cruel methods. It gives background information of how they capture the animals in the wild. From WyoHistory.org. It talks about how the fur trade started to happen with some background information of the Wyoming history. It shows or talks about the trading profits happening in this trade. From South China Morning Post. It says how designers want to stop using fur to do their clothes collections to cause awareness of the fur trade. It gives some facts about how the fur trade has been increasing over the years. From The Truth About Fur Blog. It says how activists are starting to slowly try to decrease fur trade. It shows how consumers get judged or complimented when they are wearing their fur clothes. From Historical Canada. It shows how they capture them to make more to gain more fur. It talks about the traditions and cultural ways they have been using fur for. From Evening Standard. The arguments between consumers and activists about this conflict. It explains how making and using to much faux fur got more people to start buying real fur. #2- I found out that they are starting to make fur trading illegal so, people are starting to sell the fur illegally in black markets. My driving question stayed the same. My student-led research is an interview with a fashion designer or a professor that has a lot of knowledge in this topic.I am doing this because I can not ask for people to take a survey of how they keep or treat the animals. The easy part was finding what we are going to be doing in our SLR. The hard part is finding someone to do an interview to. I need to constantly check if the people we want to interview answers in case they can’t do it. I need to find who is going to answer the questions to put them in my trifold. My collaboration is going really well. Everytime we need something we just ask each other. Something that is going well is the research. Something going wrong is the interview responses are taking to long. #3- I learned that the fur trade grows each year and that once they tried to stop this conflict by saying rather go naked than wear fur. I learned that working with others involves a lot of communication to get things done. My partner wants to make sure we get everything done correctly to get it approved correctly. That way we could finish faster. We are planning to make a fur coat then once you open it there are articles and pictures of the process it has through go to make the fur coat. We want to make our project make people think deeply of this conflict and stop buying fur coats. We need to get everything approved to put it on the board. Then finish the ISD. We are getting our things done on time. What is not going well is we are not sure how we are going to make the fur coat. #4- In what ways does the fur trade and the fashion industry contribute to crime and ethical problems? My notecards for the presentation I had fixed my grammar errors and took out sentences that didn’t make sense. Yes, because sometimes I make the simplest mistake in my documents when I revise it I fix them. Student led research is really important and can show the ways people think differently about different topics. The way you explain things is really important to get the right idea of your topic.I think collaborating with my group is going well. I would add more detail to my trifold board to make more people interested in it. Creativity and design is hard to come up with and it involves a lot of patience. An advice to an upcoming student is try the best they could and make sure that it is something you will call it yours when you are done. #5- My group member and i worked really well with each other. We will always communicate if we had a question we will figure it ou. Every time we had to do something we would agree on what to do. We will also help each other out in case we need help. We will make sure we were both happy on the finishing product. We all worked equally because my partner and I would separate the work half and half. This way we will do the same work. We would not have to be arguing that one of us did most of the work than others. I met with my mentorship teacher 5 times. My partner and I would really appreciate the advice they gave us because it made it a lot more easier to accomplish. With the advice they gave us we progressed more and just in time. This also helped us get our trifold approved. It also benefit us because it showed us how to work in a team and be more responsible on doing my assignments on time. Yes, because it all my partner and my hard work paid of to finish this product they way we wanted it to be. I am really proud of what we accomplished even do we did it in 10 weeks.
